Boot and run Ubuntu/Linux from a USB flash memory stick without installing


Ubuntu(Linux) is getting more popularity day by day,no need to explain how and why ? because reason is always in-front all of us,as we all know ubuntu is the best opensource Operating system,though we can't say it THE best because there are so many surveys and reviews among some freeware opensource operating systems.Just forget about this,today I'll share an interesting trick with you,as I mentioned on the title above.This trick will help you to get back all your data's when your os will corrupt.Just setup this once and enjoy Live Linux without formatting your computer.

Requirements :

  • Download Yumi software from here to bootable your USB Drive.
  • Download any Linux iso file from here.

How to Run Linux from an USB Flash Drive ?
Lets walk through the process step by step :
  • Start the application.

  • Press on the I Agree button.

  • Step 1 : Choose the USB drive letter.
  • Step 2 :Now choose the operating system from the list which you want to install.
  • Step 3 : Click on the browse button and set the path of your Linux .iso file.You can add multiple Linux Iso file at once.
  • Then click on the Create button and wait until the process finished.
  • Now your pendrive is a Bootable flash drive,Restart your computer to check it and connect your pendrive with your computer via Ports
  • Go to the boot option (Press DELETE button for Boot Menu) and select your USB as the first Disk priority .Now save and exit from boot menu(Press f10 for save and exit).
  • Now select Linux Distribution from the list.

  • Select your Linux Version from there.Here I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 version.You will be able to see multiple versions if you make your bootable usb with multiple ISO file.
  • Now you have to chose what task you want to perform,if you want to Run this directly from your Pendrive then select the first option,otherwise the second option to install the os on your computer.
